Damian wins Mathcounts competition!

In a tense and exciting match, Damian won the Meadowbrook lower school Mathcounts competition this morning. To do so, he had to be the first one to answer 2 questions correctly head-to-head against another competitor through 3 single-elimination rounds. The competition was stiff, and many of the correct answers were “buzzed” in even before the question had been completely read aloud by the math teachers. The math instruction at Meadowbrook is outstanding, as their middle school team has recently been the STATEWIDE Mathcounts champion, besting much larger schools.

Damian was really excited to win, as you can see from the awards picture (he’s standing on the far right)! Congratulations Damian!

P.S. Damian’s questions included the following:

- A square has a perimeter of 24 inches. What is its area?

- I have 25 quarters, 10 nickels, and 10 pennies. How many dimes would make up the same amount of currency?
